Dressly — Live Outfit Try-On Mirror

Point your phone camera at a piece of clothing, layer it onto your upper-body photo, and preview the outfit in real time. Runs entirely on your device — photos never leave, no accounts, no ads, no tracking.

About Dressly

Before buying clothes, the question is always the same: what does it look like on me?

Dressly is a try-on mirror for your phone. You take an upper-body photo, brush out the area you want to swap (the “garment shape”), then point your phone camera at the clothes you want to try — on a hanger, in the store, or in your own closet — and the screen instantly shows you wearing them. Screenshot what you like; on to the next one if you don’t.

Everything happens on your device. Photos are never uploaded anywhere. There is no backend server, no account, no advertising, no analytics — airplane mode works just fine.

How It Works

1. Prepare your upper-body subject

The first time you open the App, it walks you through creating an “upper-body subject”:

  • Pick a photo of yourself from your library, or take one in-app
  • Open the full-screen brush page and use the “erase” tool to paint over the area you want to swap (for example, the entire upper-garment region)
  • Save the subject — next time, you go straight to try-on

The brush supports round / square heads with adjustable thickness; the “restore” tool puts paint back if you erase too much. The mask concept is simple: transparent areas let the camera show through, opaque areas keep your photo.

2. Aim and try on

In the try-on page, your upper-body photo covers the screen, and the “garment shape” you brushed earlier becomes a live window onto the camera. Aim at a piece of clothing — in a store, on a hanger, or in your own wardrobe — and you see yourself wearing it.

Supported gestures:

  • Drag, pinch to zoom, horizontal flip — position the photo against the live scene
  • Opacity adjustment — blend photo and camera naturally
  • One-tap reset — back to default position and size

3. Live mask touch-up

If the garment shape isn’t quite right (a little missing at the shoulder, neckline too wide), tap “Touch-Up” right in the try-on page:

  • The camera freezes
  • A thin red outline highlights the current mask edge
  • Toggle between “reveal” and “cover” tools, pick a round or square brush
  • Paint to adjust — tap ✓ to commit, ✕ to discard

Touch-ups take effect immediately, and they persist across sessions.

4. Screenshot, share, keep

Tap the screenshot button and the App captures “your photo + camera-through-the-garment-shape” (no toolbars). From the result page you can:

  • Save to your photo library
  • Share to any app (Messages, Instagram, LINE, Mail)
  • Reshoot or return home

Screenshots also live in the App’s history page, up to 50 (oldest auto-pruned after that), so you can compare looks later.

Why Offline End-to-End

Buying clothes is personal. There is no reason for your upper-body photo to leave your phone. Many outfit apps send your image to a cloud AI for processing — which means your photo now lives on someone else’s server, possibly archived, possibly analyzed, possibly repurposed.

Dressly takes the opposite path by construction: all processing happens on your device. A single individual developer in Taiwan, no backend, no account system, no cloud storage. Airplane mode keeps the App fully functional — that is the simplest possible proof that nothing is going out.

Permissions

Permission Platform Used For
Camera iOS & Android Live camera feed to aim at clothing
Photo Library — Read iOS Pick your upper-body photo from your library
Photo Library — Write iOS Save try-on results to your album

Declining permissions disables the related features but does not affect privacy — the App does not secretly collect anything either way (because it does not collect anything to begin with).

Who It’s For

  • Anyone who wants to preview an outfit before buying
  • Anyone with two similar items in the wardrobe and wants to compare how they look
  • Anyone uncomfortable with uploading photos to cloud AI and looking for an on-device alternative
  • Anyone who likes mix-and-match but does not want to physically try every combination

Technology

Dressly is built with Flutter and runs on both iOS and Android from a single codebase. Settings and subjects are stored via the standard on-device local-storage APIs; screenshots are saved through the system Photos API.

The App contains no third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs — and no backend server of any kind. Airplane mode end-to-end is the simplest possible proof.

Full data-handling disclosure is in the privacy policy.

Get Started

Dressly is currently in development and will be released on iOS and Android. Once it goes live, download links will appear here. Until then, you can read the privacy policy — including the full disclosure of what data the App touches and does not touch (which is very little).
